SA romp to series win. Great performance from them. The Aussies need to shed their superiority complex and go back to the drawing board

Children of Heaven - Beautiful Movie
I watched Children of Heaven yesterday, a beautiful Persian movie shown on Vijay TV with a Tamil dubbing. The film has a simple story on how a boy participates in a marathon race to win his sister a new pair of shoes. It is amazing how Iranian movies capture emotions so well with simple situations. The film has deservedly won awards at several film festivals. It also reminded me of another...

Super Over - New Twenty20 Rule
A new tie-breaker rule in international Twenty20 Cricket has come into effect. The new rule called Super Over replaces the “Bowl out”. In the Super Over, both teams need to play with four players each: 3 batsmen and a bowler. Runs need to be scored off the one super over with the loss of less than 2 wickets. The runs scored at the end of the over or at the loss of two wickets, need to...

Ghajini (Hindi) Music - Disappointing Stuff
Listening to Ghajini (Hindi) songs: not impressed at all; Guzaarish sounds good but the rest are pretty average. In comparison, Harris Jeyaraj, AR Rahman’s protege did a much better job in the Tamil version.

3 Tips to Beat Recession Blues
1. Avoid impulsive buying I have wasted a lot of money buying clothes and accessories on impulse. I have also seen friends buy stuff such as mobile phones and gadgets only to regret later. 2. Use public transport as much as possible In cities like Chennai, most of the city is well served by public transport buses and trains. Use them. Not only do you save on petrol, you also keep yourself...

Great win by India! Chasing 300+ in the fourth innings is never easy; Tendulkar and Yuvraj played professionally to see the team through

Yuvvraaj - Average Fare
Watched Yuvvraaj today - the film has an ordinary story about property and family. Anil Kapoor has acted well, reminiscent of his role in Kishen Kanhaiya. Salman Khan ambles along the whole movie until the climax scene where he acts a bit. Zayed Khan is just a glorified extra. Katrina looks good but does little else. The only good things about the movie are the scenic locales and the absolutely,...

Chilly Parotta - Manchurian Style
If you’ve come looking for a recipe, sorry there is none here :) Off late, I can only eat not cook. Anyway, just had to mention the delicious Chilly Parotta that I had this evening; it tasted like a cross-continental dish - a fusion of the local Parotta with Schezwan seasoning. Very tasty!

Eid-Uz-Zuha (Bakrid)
Bakrid is an occasion of remembering the sacrifice made by Prophet Ebrahim (AS) and trying our best to emulate him in whatever way possible. Photo: Maqam-E-Ebrahim - Station of Ebrahim (AS) in Mecca on which he and his son stood upon to build the Kaaba. The station is a piece of stone which has now been enclosed in a protective cage to prevent damage. Photo Courtesy: Time Light ...
