I’ve been looking at Twine for a few days now but I am not fully convinced on its promise of being a Semantic Web application. I see in the site a lot of pages similar to Wikis, links and social networking features, there is RDF as well, but is that all there is to Semantic Web applications? As I see, the main things that Twine does is:
- It organizes data (links, docs, images etc) neatly in a central place
- It lets you connect to other users like any other social networking site
- Has a cool feature: RDF is used for all textual content representation
Except for the RDF part, I do not see any feature unique to the semantic web. And as I had mentioned earlier, it reminds me a lot of Squidoo.
So, unless there is some “killer” feature that evolves and comes out when Twine is out of beta, I am not sure of the interest level that the site would generate.
