I had planned quite a few tasks for Saturday and as expected the day was pretty hectic. I can’t re-iterate enough the need for a car here in the US. Its extremely difficult to live here without one. I am still surviving without a car and only God knows how. I have not mustered enough courage to drive a car and consequently do not possess a driver’s license.
After buying a couple of speakers and sub-woofer to listen to music from my PC/MP3 player, I decided to take a bus back home - a decision I later regretted. If you are not intending to buy a car, be prepared to wait for long periods and shell out dough for cabs. The nearest bus stop from the electronics store was about quarter of a mile, which I walked to. Then waited for the bus for about half hour. It was and is always an awkward feeling to stand there at the bus stop alone when the whole world passes you by in cars of different variety. The looks the drivers give are enough for a person to dig a hole in the earth and bury himself in. I have encountered this feeling many times, why I’ve not buried myself in is a question to which I do not have an answer. To end the story, I did get the bus and managed to get home.
The rest of the evening was much better. The speakers that I bought sounded good and made enough noise to make the neighbour’s complain. Then I was invited by my friends who live across the road to join them for a dinner at a Malaysian restaurant in nearby Bellevue. I was picked up and dropped back home(Ah! the luxuries of travelling in a car). The food was great as expected. The Parathas had the distinct Chennai taste and the Fish Curry was not too bad either. A good Leechee drink helped washing down the heavy stuff. To top it all, the bill did not startle anyone.
It was a day of mixed fortune but it ended on the brighter side.
