text 21 Oct Of Feudal lords and plebeians

I got another bout of depression yesterday and an angry one at that. It was a general case of irritation over the hierarchical system that exists in the organization I work for and the emphasis that is laid upon it. People refuse to respond to e-mails, ignore phone calls by looking at the caller ID and do similar things to show their imperial status. The colonialism that was present over 50 years back has surely left an impact on the way Indians live and work today. The feudal lords have been replaced with bosses who adorn the corporate thrones. With promotions in one hand and pink slips in the other, they have the power to change lives of plebeians who work under them. The saddest part is that when people who are friendly and easily accessible when they are at a lower level, begin to develop airs when they move up the ladder. I fail to understand the reason for this metamorphosis. I have not actually performed in a leadership role for a prolonged period of time and hence may not be privileged enough to know the tricks of the trade.

I hope I am never hurled these sort of accusations if and when I sit on the throne that decides people’s fates.
