Last week was short with just 3 days. I was off to Hyderabad with Sushil to attend a wedding and had taken the first two days of the week off. It was a fun trip with the emphasis firmly on food and sleep :) Food was great, first the traditional Andhra stuff we had on the wedding day and before, then the Kababs and Hyderabadi Biryani ::yumm:: We also went through the ritual of visiting Charminar (pictures to follow soon), Tank Bund and a passers-by visit of Birla Mandir.

A long weekend after a short week, thanks to the Independence day. Through the promos of Mangal Pandey - The Rising on TV, I am reminded of the pre-1947 events. I have always been in awe of the radical freedom fighters - Bhagat Singh and Netaji Bose. I have not read or known much about Mangal Pandey though I’ve read a bit about 1857 (there are very few details mentioned about him). 1857, to me has always been the real war of independence. Having read quite a bit about it (outside of the history text book), I am curious to see how it has been portrayed on the screen. Till such time when I get to see the movie, I am sating myself with the title song of Mangal Pandey - Mangala Mangala and its trailer.
