text 2 Dec Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire: Short Review

I watched Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire at Sathyam last Sunday. We (my cousins and aunt) started a little late and ended up missing over 15 minutes of the beginning. But thankfully, that did not affect in understanding the story. This time, the plot was to win a tournament that had groups coming from outside Hogwarts to participate. Harry is mysteriously nominated to compete in the tournament that is meant for folks over 17 years old (We are told that Harry is only 14 at that time) as it is considered too dangerous. There are several stages that one needs to cross to win the tournament and these are well etched. The stages are laden with special effects that are expectedly, excellent and innovative. The narrative sags a bit in the second half and there are some points in the movie that I thought were flawed. I will not reveal which ones though :)

Bottomline:
The pace and excitement that surrounded the game of Quidditch in the Sorcerer’s Stone is unmatched in any of the sequels that followed. But I liked the Goblet of Fire much better than the Prisoner of Azkaban. This is a typical Harry Potter movie that is good for an evening of relaxation with kids and young adults.
