text 5 Dec Sushil’s posts on the Indian IT industry

I just finished reading Sushil’s second post on the state of things in the Indian IT industry, the first one I had read yesterday. The two posts Battle Scarred Survivor of IT I & II are a must read for anyone working in the industry. Though they are long, they are definitely worth the time. There are several anecdotes present in them. One of them is very satirical - “Here’s a tip for any company in the west planning to outsource to India. If you feel that a project can be completed in 6 weeks by 4 people, always demand that it be completed in 2 weeks by 3 people.” Another one is on interpreting job ads, “’Must be Deadline Oriented’ - You will be six months behind schedule on your first day.”

If you absolutely do not have time to read the posts, at least read the “How To Interpret Employment Ads” section in the second post.
