Okay, it is a heavy title for a post but I always wanted to do a productivity chart to see how I fared in a project over a period of time. This is what I got.
I’ve calculated productivity as the time taken to complete a task. In the chart, the effort to complete a task of same complexity has increased as time progressed. This is a phenomenon that I’ve observed happening to me in all the projects that I’ve worked on. One of the major reasons for this is that things start getting to be boring after a while. Is this true for everybody? Should we then say that productivity is dependant on the factor of boredom?
Productivity = f(UOM/Effort)
where UOM (Unit of Measure) is used to measure any deliverable e.g. Lines of Code, Pages etc
and f is a function of boredom such that when boredom increases productivity decreases
