text 24 Jun The Paramount Hotel - Reasonably Priced Non-Veg. Fare

My cousin had come from Bangalore and we decided to go out for dinner. We were joined by a few more cousins and went to the Paramount Hotel in Anna Nagar (a few blocks away from Yeses Super Market). The hotel is known for its non-vegetarian food and it did not disappoint. The ambience was pretty usual, moderately lit lights and decently furnished tables. The service, however, was pretty ordinary, with a waiter arguing on some dishes’ availability.

We ordered a combination of Chinese and Tandoori dishes. We started with the soups: Sweet Corn Chicken and Hot & Sour Chicken, both of which were pretty good. Then we ordered an assortment of Chicken Kababs, Crispy Lamb Fingers, Chinese Prawn Fried Rice and Singapore Mixed Noodles.

The stand-out dish was the assortment of Kababs which contained the Tangri Kabab (leg piece and breast) and Chicken Tikka, both of which were pretty good. It was also supposed to have had the Reshmi Kabab, which is a juicy, less spicy Kabab. This was unavailable and was replaced with the much drier Chicken Tikka. The other dishes - the fried rice and noodles were of the usual variety. The Crispy Lamb Fingers was a disappointment. The meat was hard and was so mildly spiced that it could have passed itself off as a continental dish. Finally, we washed everything down with a Fresh Lime Soda.

The prices were very reasonable, costing around Rs. 200 per person which made the overall experience good. The restaurant is recommended if you are a non-vegetarian with a liking for chicken.
