Arrived at the Tokyo Narita airport around 6.40 AM, the flight was right on time. Since I had clear instructions on how to get to the hotel, I did not face any difficulties. If you do not know the language nor have the instructions, it is going to be really tough for you. People speak very little English and sometimes they understand only specific words. For example, I was looking for a calling card to call India and the lady at the store could not understand. After a while of conversing, she said: oh! pre-paid card.
I got to the hotel in a bus as taxis are expensive. Space in Tokyo is at a premium so the hotel room was small. But it had all the domestic appliances required to live independently - washing machine, kitchenette (small sink, stove, microwave oven and fridge), TV, DVD/VTR player, PC and a LAN connection. The hotel is conveniently located near the railway station so commuting is not a hassle. In the next few posts, I will try and cover food, transportation, tourist spots and other stuff.
