text 26 Jan Glancing at the Indian Constitution

This Republic Day, I thought that it would be a good idea to take a look at our constitution. It is available online here. While reading through, I found the following point mentioned in the Fundamental Duties section, which I believe should be at the top of our minds always, more so than ever in these present troubled times.

According to part IV.51A of the constitution, “It shall be the duty of every citizen of India to promote harmony and the spirit of common brotherhood amongst all the people of India transcending religious, linguistic and regional or sectional diversities; to renounce practices derogatory to the dignity of women;”

And anyone who fails to uphold the above as a fundamental duty should either be powerful enough to pass a motion and change the point in the constitution or leave the country.
